About launch operator

The US independent government organization, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is in charge of the civil space program, as well as space and aeronautics research. It strives to emphasize peaceful space scientific applications to give the US space research endeavor a civilian emphasis. NASA has been in charge of most American space exploration initiatives, such as the Apollo moon landing flights, the Skylab space station, and subsequently, the Space Shuttle. In addition to managing the construction of the Orion spacecraft, the Space Launch System, Commercial Crew vehicles, and the envisioned Lunar Gateway space station, NASA supports the International Space Station. The organization is also in charge of the Launch Services Program, which manages the countdown to uncrewed NASA missions and oversees launch operations.
